A very rare American Colonial Era document from Caughnawaga, New York, dated January 29, 1787.  Caughnawaga was originally a village of the Mohawk Indian Nation inhabited from 1666 to 1693, and now an archaeological site. Later it was the name of a Town in New York State which covered much of Montgomery County until a subdivision eliminated it. The subdivision created the towns of Broadalbin, Johnstown, and Mayfield in Fulton County.  This manuscript document, by Moses Depuy, appoints a relative, Joseph Depuy, of Ulster County, New York to represent him in a law suit.  Approximately 12 1/2" x 7 1/2" in size, very dark ink.  Small hole from sealing wax seal, fold lines, but overall excellent condition.  Has been folded and will be shipped that way.  We are full time autograph and document dealers registered with the UACC (#036), and members of the Manuscript Society.  Payments must be by Pay Pal.  We will combine shipping on multiple purchases.  Buyers in New York State must pay.
